Ostende

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Wet weather put a damper on Paul Noble & BSD’s efforts in the European Sound of Thunder series.

Having not raced on roads, Paul found the race through the streets of Ostende in Belgium a learning curve. He gradually got used to the conditions and circuit to qualify in the top six but he tried to get to the front too quickly in the first race and found that straw bales do move if you hit them hard enough.

So a battered bike and rider had to be prepared for race two, as usual Mark (BSD) did a sterling job and the bike was ready. Paul got away with the front runners but local knowledge of the track proved key and he finished a very creditable fourth.. The race was held near the dock and it was the first time we had seen frogmen as marshalls.

In terrible weather Paul Noble came away from the Dutch round of the European sound of thunder with a win & a second place. Practice saw Paul well down the qualifiers in 14th position, but Sunday saw a big improvement Mark (BSD) had made a few adjustments to the wet weather set up which enabled Paul to come through the field to take the win.

The second race was run in much worse conditions where it was not possible to see the riders ahead for the spray it didn’t stop them running at speeds of up to 170mph, Paul pulled through for a second place.
